It’s a short loop, full of beautiful wildflowers in spring, and a cool look at an abandoned pump station’s ruins, hence the name.
Those rocks do not forgive, huh? Each day, swimmers will submit their laps or lengths converted into miles and track their progress as they virtually swim along the Eno River!

We’ve organized five of them in alphabetical order along with distance and blaze.Buckquarter Creek might be my favorite trail in Eno River State Park. Many adventurous souls head to the quarry for this. This is not the time to “hang out” at the park.Please note that this alert is updated only when something changes. Neighbors have recommended Eno as a place I can take my dog for a swim. Eno River State Park—like its namesake—flows near urban areas of Durham and Orange counties with five scattered access areas, each just minutes from town amenities. Definitely a good reminder. Pump Station is one of the more non-descript trails of Eno River State Park, but one of the most popular. Eno River State Park remains our favorite in North Carolina, and not just because it’s close to home.
No reports of green algae and we’re pretty regular visitors.
We recommend packing a picnic and maybe even putting a camping chair in the water to relax while the kids swim and play.Before looping away from the river, this is where you’ll find some of the Eno’s most beautiful rapids.One of the park’s easier hikes, Cole Mill Trail takes you along the river and through the woods.
The Eno River’s waters roll past mature forests, historic mill and home sites and river bluffs covered with flowering shrubs and across fords used by early settlers. For backpackers, there are five sites available at both the Fanny’s Ford Campground and the Piper Creek Campground. Generally, state parks are following the phased reopening statewide.
