I think the previous article is a tad harsh and bordering on scare mongering i.e. An interesting trip around the coast if Fiji's main island.Stay a night in Nadi,Sandalwood lodge is good value,well positioned,clean,budget hotel.The sleeping Giant Orchid Gardens & the Hot Springs nearby are a pleasant outing.One hours massage at the Hot Springs for $10 is good value,warning,the springs are hot!Enter slowly,stay in for about 10 mins at a time.Leave Nadi next day on a bus to Lautoka,swap there for a bus to Rakiraki.The Rakiraki Hotel is good for a night,avoid the dorm type rooms,spend $85 on a nice room.The pool is clean,food is good.Get a taxi to Ellington Wharf,before 8am,catch the runabout boat to Nananu-I-Ra Island,MacDonalds is best resort[$85],Bethams & Charlies are also ok.Stay maybe 2 nights,graet snorkelling off beach.Back to Rakiraki,catch a bus to Korovou,then a minibus or Bus to Ferry to Levuka,the old Capital of Fiji.Stay a night or 2 here,either the Royal ,a cottage near pool is nicer[$85],or find alternative accom.Waterfall at Waitovu village[walking distance out of town]Kims Chinese is good food,also the pizza restaurant on edge of town.Back to Suva on 5am bus ,Ferry,& bus[$35].Suva,Rainforest lodge is ok,25 mins outa town,or give Suva a miss,straight onto a bus to Coral Coast,plenty accoms near Koreluvu,& Sigatoka,an interesting,bustling town.Then Back to Nadi on a bus.So now you have circumnavigated the island,try the interior,or some of the other islands.Cheers!
