Survivors include her son, Henry Nelson Carter III of Waco; her daughter, Janie Carter Atkinson and husband, Paul of Waco; her niece, Linda Kay Scott and husband, Doug, of Heath, Texas; nephews, Dick Cowan and wife, Jill, of Duncanville, Texas and Neil Clarke and wife, Robyn of Spearfish, South Dakota; her sister in law, Katherine Cowan and her beloved dog and faithful companion, Sydney. During this time, Ruth served on the school board and was a member of the Sesame Literary Club. She loved her family and her friends.
