The weather was beautiful, so a nearby (50 min drive from south bend) drive was definitely doable and worth it.
Pristine beach but overcrowded and challenging dunes..... like typical laid back folks we went late in the evening on a hot day and was perfect to walk on the sand .
So 2 days look like $100. A fun 1 hour detour.Beautiful spot for camping. This is a great park for families!

overall- as i said, it was a perfect camping experience- highly recommendToo many people on the average day, this park has been commercialized beyond Cedar Point yet no money has been put back into it for the public. Nope.
the campground was a nice mile hike fro the big dunes - so we had a great hike the day we arrived and got a scenic morning hike heading north away from the dunes the next day.
The sand does get hot so bring swim shoes or wear your sandals while trying to find a great spot to hang. Great photo op and very pretty views. The sites can be reserved for as short as an overnight stay or for as long as six months.
