The Waterrock Knob Visitor Center is located on a spur road that turns off from the Blue Ridge Parkway at Mile Post 451.2. You can pick up a park brochure, which is a large folding road map, and a copy of the tabloid magazine-size publication called the Blue Ridge Parkway Outdoor Guide.

You should be able to read all of the information and be in and out of the Visitor Center in 15 to 30 minutes.A restroom facility is located outside of the building, and picnic tables are spread out around the parking area. Here you will find information on environmental concerns affecting the Blue Ridge Parkway, such as the Balsam Wooly Adelgid (an insect that wiped out the fir trees), bears, and the reintroduction of elk to the Appalachian Mountains. Also when you get to Waterrock knob follow the yellow spray painted trees to go even higher up to another look out spot! Normally open daily, 9:00 AM - 5:00 PM, except Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Year's Day. The Waterrock Knob Visitor Center and Park Store is located here and open seasonally. Normally open daily, 10:00 AM - 5:00 PM from April until November. This has information on trails, campgrounds, picnic areas, and other Parkway attractions.Exhibits and gift store inside the Waterrock Knob Visitor CenterNearly all visitor centers have exhibits, and the Waterrock Knob Visitor Center is no exception.

This open house is hosted by the Foundation in collaboration with the National Park Service (NPS), and multiple local, state and federal land managers in the region.
