It feels more removed than it was and there were far fewer people here than other nearby parks.A little muddy and kinds narrow in places. This section has multiple stream crossings, gentle rock gardens, flat out sprinting and is fabulous fun. If you don’t want to go up hill a lot go to the right of the trail first and you’ll go downhill more.It was a good trail. This white-blazed trail segment is on the Baltimore County side of the river and is mostly flat with a few tricky rock gardens. One part of the trail was a bit over grown and there were a few muddy spots but nothing impassable. The Sweet Air area of Gunpowder State Park is lightly used compared to all of the other areas.
Recommend a hiking backpack for little ones but awesome walk for the kids! Has a few benches on the trail and picnic tables/river access right at the start. Bel Air Rd parking lot is the most prominent parking spot for the Little Gunpowder Trail sections. parking area to the Bottom Rd. Very nice hike! Open sunrise to sunset. This is a very well-traveled portion of the Little Gunpowder Trail. RECOMMENDED ROUTE Nice view of the Little Gunpowder and Jericho Covered Bridge. Dogs are also able to use this trail but must be kept on leash.Nice little easy trail with river views and a neat covered bridge at the end.
